The contest is open to everyone irrespective of nationality or age. |
To whom do copyrights on the award-winning works belong?
|
|
Copyrights belong to the original authors who submitted the award-winning works to the contest. However, if there are multiple copyright-holders on a given work, such as a team of collaborators or artists working for a company, the copyright-holders must clearly indicate their respective rights and responsibilities. |
What are the categories of competition?
|
|
There are three categories of competition: content (products), mobile applications and IT (products), and designs. |
Is it possible to compete in more than one category with a single entry?
|
|
No, you may compete in a single category only for each work. |
What kinds of entries are suitable for the “content” category?
|
|
This category is for “product plans” and ideas for hangeul-themed objects that can be turned into marketable products, including, but not limited to, literature, visual art and production, comics, characters, animations, games, broadcasting, and fashion. The category, however, is also open to content incorporating hangeul-inspired designs. |
What kinds of entries are suitable for the “mobile applications/IT” category?

This category is for “product plans” and ideas for hangeul-themed software programs and content, and which can be used on smart devices such as smartphones, smart pads, smart TVs, smart home systems, and smart cars. |
What kinds of entries are suitable for the “designs” category?
|
|
This category is for hangeul-themed or inspired entries within a comprehensive range of visual designs, including new designs for public signs and merchandise. |
Can a single contestant submit multiple entries?
|
|
Yes, a contestant or team may enter multiple entries with separate product plans or designs. |
Can teams or groups enter the contest?
|
|
Yes, and there is no maximum number of persons allowed for each team. All team members, however, must fill out the required documents, including pledges, individually. If the space provided on the application form is not big enough for the names of all authors of a team, a separate list of the authors involved needs to be submitted. |
Can contestants make changes to their entries after submitting them to the contest?
|
|
Once an entry is submitted, changes cannot be made. If it is absolutely necessary to make changes, contact the secretariat and re-submit your work as a new entry. |
Can I edit the works submitted?
|
|
A submission number will be issued upon submission, and you can check and modify the contents of the application through the "Application confirmation" menu.Modifying works submitted must be completed before the deadline. |
How do contestants know if their entries have been received?
|
|
When the reception is completed normally, a receipt number is issued along with the announcement letter. Once the receipt number is given, the receipt will be completed. In addition, the existing receipt details can be checked through the "Application confirmation" menu. |
Can I submit an entry offline?
|
|
No. All entries must be received via our official website only. |
How are the entries evaluated?
|
|
A panel of expert judges is formed for each contest category. The evaluation proceeds fairly in two stages: document review, followed by video evaluation.

How do I find out which entries have won awards?
|
|
The results of the contest will be announced on our official website, and the award winners will be contacted individually. |
When will the award ceremony take place?
|
|
The current plan is to hold the ceremony early in October. Details of the ceremony will be communicated to award winners at a later date. |
How can award winners living outside Korea attend the award ceremony?
|
|
KOCCA will provide travel expenses, but not the cost of accommodation, for the grand prize winner. Arrangements with other award winners will be made individually. |

How do I submit additional materials?
|
|
Submission of additional data, except for proposals and pledge to scan the attachments must be submitted as required during Main Reception, is optional. Please submit the file in compressed file format (* .zip) via e-mail ([email protected]).
Only optional/additional materials with the following extensions will be received.
1. Products (Content and mobile applications/IT)
- Documents: hwp, doc
- Images: jpeg, png
- Videos: avi, mp4, wmv
2. Designs
- Images: jpeg, png

What does it mean to “entrust the copyrights to the award-winning works to the care of KOCCA”?
|
|
This means that KOCCA may initiate and lead the process of turning the award-winning works into viable products with permission of the award winners. |
Can works under patent application or works for which patents (or design marks) have already been granted be submitted to the contest?
|
|
Yes, insofar as those works have not yet been launched as products on the market, and have not won awards at similar contests or received grants from similar government projects in or outside Korea. |
Is it necessary to submit additional materials?
|
|
No, submission of additional materials is completely up to you. |
Can I use my native language on my application and required materials or when asking questions via e-mail or telephone?
|
|
Required documents and materials may be submitted in your native language (English is recommended for foreigners). Only Korean or English questions will be answered, whether by e-mail or on the telephone. |
